And speaking of Jon Brion's pals, remind me to celebrate the weekend of my 21st birthday next year by going to one of Jon's weekly Friday night shows at this club.

Release Fiona Apple's LP Petition

Say hello to the first time one of these things may actually make a difference. They seem to be getting about 9 signatures a second right now.

UGH. Due to a deal involving a morning show host, Q95.5 has turned into an R&B station. St. Louis already lost our hip-hop radio pioneer, Majic this way. Honestly, 100.3's got some great DJs, but from the very start, when Q95.5 had no commercials, they were my hip-hop radio station of choice, and let's face it: no Clear Channel station would even be allowed to have the character of Q95.

The wordreference.com translation of the English word "outsourcing":

"compra de productos manufacturados en una empresa extranjera para economizar costes"

I could've told you that. Jerk.

After talking to James at Vintage Vinyl, it appears as though Julia Sets, one of my very favorite local bands for the last few years, has broken up. Their first album, the Last One Hundred Days of Julia Sets, was a wonder of twangy lo-fi pop, and may just be my favorite album to come out of St. Louis. I'd recommend that you pick up an album or two from Vintage Vinyl while you still can (I'm a big fan of Alternative to Extinction myself, but for anyone who wants some rock & rawl, Yes-Wave will do the job quite nicely). And for any cheapskates out there, they even put an album online for free.

Apparently, a note or letter of some kind was left in the front door of my dad's house, saying that a military recruiter has been trying to contact me several times. News to me. Now, what does this mean?

I found something that I can like about music right now! Yuka Honda (from Cibo Matto) just came out with her second solo album. The first was the soundtrack to many gleeful car rides and/or photography sessions, and remains one of my favorite albums. Also, Esthero, a trip-hop singer (whose first album I dug) who's essentially disappeared for the last 6 years seems to be about to come out with a new album as well! Now we just need the new albums from Fiona Apple and Beck. I'm waiting on ya, kids.
