International DJ spin

No one reads this blog, but I'll post this for kicks anyhow:

This Thursday night from 8 to midnight, I'll be playing 4 straight hours of:
French indie rock
Chilean electronic shoegazer
Nigerian joromi
Music by film director Pedro Almodovar's 1980s punk band Almodovar y McNamara
Soviet-era organ music and now-era reggae from Russia
Cuban hip-hop
Indian Bhangra
Brazilian manguebeat
Belgian electronic rock
...and pleeeenty more.
Admission is free, and once again, it's going to be on the last Thursday of the month at the Sci-Fi Lounge (http://www.myspace.com/scifilounge) in the Skinker-DeBaliviere neighborhood at 6010 Kingsbury Ave. (next to Joe's Cafe, for the unfamiliar).

I'm liking what I'm seeing at this blog.  By all accounts, this place looks and sounds amazing.  What's with all of the Photoshop filters, though?

Webster University President Richard Meyers resigns

http://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/stories/2008/02/11/daily12.html?ana=from_rss

This reads curiously similar to Governor Blunt's abrupt announcement that he wasn't running for a second term.  What gives, eh?

So bad, you know they're good

In honor of a sporting event that I don't care about, here's that kitsch you ordered:

Thanks, 1985.

Also, I'm liking the Blue Nile Ethiopian market by Olive and McKnight.  I just cooked up half of a 89 cent bag of red lentils as a side with my last batch of enchiladas, and I'm so excited to pick up some ingredients to make injera and a doro wat.  In a month or so, they're going to start offering Ethiopian cooking classes there too, so I can find out what I'm about to probably do wrong!
