New laptop, finally! I'm loving this thing like McDonald's, it's so light and small, and quiet, and cool. Which is to say everything that the old, broken Toshiba was not. The fact that apparently the ThinkPads' design is based on Japanese bento boxes (compare with this) also allows me to forgive them for not having altered the '80s-looking design for over a decade. This bit of information also makes me want some chicken teriyaki.

It would appear as though Olive Street Deli is out of business? I used to love that place, I can't even imagine how many times I've picked up a sandwich, chips, and 8 oz. soda, and a Twix from that place growing up. For those that never had it, imagine what Jimmy John's sandwiches are like, but imagine them somehow or another tasting better. And if you wanted 'em, they had burgers on croissants and hot wings. Dammit, I'm never going to get to eat another #14 again.

So, I guess, on that note, let me offer un petit shout-out to another underappreciated spot, the U-City Grill. It seems like outside of the occasional influx of Wash U. students, not enough people even ever find the place. On the wee back corner of the building housing Cicero's, facing Kingsland and the parking lot, is a tiny, cheap, and really, quite good Korean/American diner. If you want, you can grab eggs and the like, but, ah, their bulgogi, their bibimbop, so good...

By the way, tried out Atomic Cowboy last weekend, and it was every bit as good as the review said - highly recommend those fries. Plus, being that it was a Friday, I got to sit around the fire and see Bob Reuter play. I also went to McGurk's, the Venice Cafe, and the Way Out Club (wherein I saw a band actually called Imperial Battle Snake) for the first time. Bless yer heart, St. Louis.

Ah, finally have a cellphone. It's a Virgin Mobile, and the thing is as MTV-ified as its commercials. I am setting to work on rectifying this.

Indeed, everybody in fact does have the clap.

Paris Hilton doesn't change facial expressions

This is actually surprisingly amusing.

I'm 21 tomorrow - more later. By the way, if anyone will for whatever reason be in town next weekend, do let me know...
